Getting the Best Value for Your Insurance Claim
Understanding Your Insurance Claim Helps You Choose the Right Contractor
Did you have severe weather in your area? Hail? Wind? Something worse? Initially you should contact your insurance company and they will instruct you how to proceed with your potential claim. Your insurance agent may ask you to contact a professional roofing contractor. This is the time to call Academy Roofing! We will schedule a time for an inspection of your roof and then provide a proposal if repairs are necessary. Once you receive your insurance paperwork we will go to work to ensure that your roof has been properly adjusted. Our Sales Representatives work on your behalf to make sure you are receiving a fair settlement.
Frequently asked questions regarding insurance claims:
Q1.WHAT DOES MY INSURANCE ADJUSTMENT COVER?
Your insurance covers three main areas:
1.It will indicate all of the areas on your home that were damaged in the storm and pricing for replacement of the same.
2.It will indicate your deductible amount (the portion of the claim you will pay).
3.It will indicate depreciation which can, in most instances, be recovered by you upon completion of your work.
Q2.IS A ROOFING CONTRACTOR AUTHORIZED TO PAY MY DEDUCTIBLE?
No. By law a roofing company cannot pay your insurance deductible.
Q3.IS PRICE THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR WHEN DECIDING ON MY PROPOSAL?
Never sign a roofing proposal based on price alone! Do your research first! Using a professional roofing contractor with a spotless record is the most important factor when signing a proposal.
Q4.MY NEIGHBOR IS GETTING HIS ENTIRE ROOF REPLACED! WHY IS MY INSURANCE COMPANY ONLY PAYING FOR PART OF MY ROOF?
Storms are sporadic. No area of a storm will have the exact same amount of hail stones or lightning strikes as another area, even if it’s across the street. Therefore, no two houses receive the same amount of damage from a storm. Your Sales Representative from Academy Roofing is your ethical advocate and will look out for your best interests. They will contact your insurance adjuster and work on your behalf to obtain a fair settlement for all damage that your home sustains.
Q5.HOW DOES MY INSURANCE COMPANY FIGURE THE PAYMENT OF MY CLAIM?
Your insurance settlement and payment is based on your policy provisions, terms and coverage. You should discuss this with your insurance agent. Every policy is different.
Q6.WILL MY INSURANCE COMPANY DEDUCT MY DEDUCTIBLE FROM THE CHECK(S) THAT THEY SEND ME?
Yes. Your deductible will be deducted from the checks you receive from your insurance company. You are responsible for paying your deductible to your roofing contractor.
Q7.WHY DOES MY INSURANCE COMPANY INCLUDE MY MORTGAGE COMPANY ON THE CHECKS THEY SEND ME?
Sometimes you can receive a joint check made out to you and your home mortgage company. Your mortgage company holds the deed to your property and has an interest in ensuring that all major repairs are completed. Contact your mortgage company to see what paperwork must be completed in order for them to endorse your check(s). It is recommended that you contact your mortgage company as soon as you receive your adjustment paperwork.
